You can join the church in three different ways: 1.) Profession of faith and baptism 2.) Transfer from another United Methodist Church or 3.) Transfer from another denomination. If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and/or been baptized and you wish to now do so, then option 1 is your choice. Please contact our pastor to have him talk about your decision and pray with you. After your conversation you can set up a time to join and be baptized if needed. Options 2 & 3 are if you have previously been baptized and a member of another church. We accept baptism from all Christian faiths, so if you were baptized in the Baptist Church, Catholic Church, Presbyterian, or any other Christian denomination then that baptism is valid in the UMC and you do not need to be baptized. Again, contact the pastor to set up a time to talk about your desire to transfer your membership. Our secretary will get the information and handle all of the transfer documents for you. 

 

Regardless of how you join, when you become a part of the Good News family (we prefer to say we're adopting you into our family than you joining as if it's a club) you will take the membership vows, which we refer to as family obligations. These affirm that you promise to support this church family with your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. This is your part of the covenant, just as we covenant to accept and love you as part of our family. We expect everyone to contribute to the life of the church as they can. The pastor can make you aware of the variety of ways you can serve. We ask that you pray for us and attend worship regularly and that you support the church financially as well as being a good witness out in the community by showing God's love to others.
